Massage Therapist - Hospice - Contingent - Days

Description

Service Area: Toledo/ Sylvania

Provides massage and/or alternative therapies to patients and family members in their place of residence as directed by the manager, volunteer/wellness services and/or other hospice interdisciplinary team members. Reports to the manager of volunteer/wellness services.

Duties:

  • Actively participates in the interdisciplinary team process of care plan development, through regular communication with interdisciplinary staff and attendance at team meetings as appropriate.
  • Assists in the evaluation of usefulness or appropriateness of massage therapy or other alternative forms of therapy for patient/family.

  • Assists in the establishment of goals and objectives of therapy. Appropriately evaluates and reports therapy effectiveness.

  •  Provides direct services to patients and families in their home settings. Initiates massage therapy program and instructs other staff members and family members on the programs and the individualized goals for them.

  • Completes appropriate documentation within required time frame. Advises the manager of volunteer/wellness services and/or manager of patient care services of patient’s response to therapy or changes in condition.

  •  Assists in the learning needs of students, orientation of new hospice employees and volunteers as assigned.

  •  Provides assistance in the development/implementation of the annual memorial services.

  •  Demonstrates a commitment to quality end-of-life issues.

  • Participates in other projects, meetings and completes other duties as assigned.


  • ​Current certification in Massage Therapy
  • Two years of experience in a health care setting, home care/hospice experience preferred
  • Experience in team building and quality assessment and improvement activities as related to JCAHO standards, and standards set by other regulating bodies
