ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital is looking for an experienced academic Family Medicine Physician to join our 6-6-6 Family Medicine Residency as a Medical Director. The Medical Director shall be responsible for all patient care activities at the department/Family Medicine Residency Center (FMRC) and shall plan, organize, and coordinate clinical and administrative operations.  The Medical Director serves as a leader to help define a vision of quality improvement, address day-to-day function, and directly supervisor the medical practitioners (residents and medical students) who provide direct patient care.  


Specific duties of the Medical Director shall include, but not limited to the following:

  • Participate in residency/medical student clinical training 
  • Assists with implementation and coordination of the residency training program according to ACGME guideline and accreditation requirements with regards to clinical training site; and
  • Participate in recruitment/selection/orientation of residents, medical students, faculty and office staff as needed
  • Develop, implement, and review administrative policies & procedures in conjunction with Program Director, business manager and/or clinical manager</li>
  • Coordinate quality assurance and patient care activities
  • Work with residents to help address urgent clinical issues communicated via telephone or epic encounter
  • Monitor and ensure the residents are closing charts within 3 days and faculty within 10 in order to ensure timely communication to other health care providers and ensure timely reimbursement
  • Develop and implement department goals in conjunction with the Program Director
  • Responsible for the establishment of the adherence to productivity standards, cost effective measures and timely feedback of information to the Program Director and administrative team
  • Provide feedback regarding utilization issues and quality indicator such a HEDIS, PCMH, EPIC, and Patient Satisfaction 
  • Ensure professional personnel meet or exceed all requirements mandated by medical compliance with The Joint Commission, ACGME, CMS, and other accreditation and licensing agencies
  • Provide assistance as needed to the business and clinical managers to ensure laboratory licensing is up to-date
  • Provide assistance as needed to the business and clinical managers with ordering of vaccines and other pharmaceutical products.
  • Support Program Director and Hospital leadership in all communications with internal and external organizational goals; and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction (members, vendors, providers, regulators, accreditation agencies, peers and employees)
  • Anticipate and identify key source information to analyze problems clearly and determines creative solutions
  • Serve on committees as requested
  • Attend faculty meetings and report to team regarding productivity, patient volume, resident experience, and clinical learning environment
  • Responsible for planning for development of new clinic programs, include applicable policies and procedures
  • Perform periodic review of practice management function and assist in the planning and marketing of the department
  • Serve as liaison between medical/office staff, residents, hospital administration and the community
  • Oversees and maintains performance improvement process within the department
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Hospital Administration
